Name: Male Torso
Picture:
Description: Similar to the Apollo Belvedere, attributed to Leochares. Rome. H. 2.24m (whole statue). Armless torso, very similar in design and execution to that of the Apollo Belvedere. This torso has a thinner cloak, no crossband for a quiver, and a shorter distance between the navel and genitals.
Date: c. 330 B.C.
Discussion: This would seem to be a poor copy of the torso of the Apollo Belvedere. See Robertson 1981: 160ff.; Stewart 1990: 191, 212, 226, 283-4; 573 (ill.).
