Pausanias attributes this group to the great Praxiteles, and on the face of it, it would appear to be a correct assumption as the style is very close. However, the cloak and strut are not typical of a fourth century original, and it is instead suggested that it may have been Praxiteles' son, Kephisodotos II, that worked on this piece.
