H. 4.3cm, diam. 9.4cm, diam. (including handles) 16.9cm. A few chips around the rim. Fine reddish clay, black lustrous glaze. Squat, wheel made skyphos with horizontal handles which widen outwards. Cushiony base. The interior is painted black with impressed design consisting of four palmettes placed crosswise around a small circle. The exterior too is painted black except for the underside of the base which is painted with three concentric circles and a central dot. To the side of the outer circle there is a tear-shaped dash of paint.d |
