My dear Lady M[ar]y, I am resolved to have the first gratification of call[in]g you by your real name.

Many thanks for your kind & hearty note – I do assure you that, tho[ugh] there is always the greatest pleasure in________ _______, I o[we] it is almost all the pleasure I now have in life, I never felt it more strongly than upon this occasion.

It gives me a great pleasure, verily, to tell you that the opinion of the lawyers is very decided in favour of my preferment of _______.
