Jamis throu the grace of god ∙ Kynge of Scottis ∙ Til all that this lettre heris or seis sendis gretynge ∙ Wit ye that we have grauntit and be this presentis lettres grauntis a speciall confirmaciun in the mast forme til our traiste and wele belofit Cosyng schyr William of douglas of drumlangrig of all the landis that he is possessit and chartrit of with in the kyngdome of Scotlande that is for to say the landis of drumnlangrig of Hawyke and of Selkirke the whilkis chartris and possessiouns be this lettre we conferme ∙ and wil for the mare sekernes this oure confirmacioune ∙ be formabilli efter the fourme of oure chanussellur and the tenor of his chartris selit with oure grete sele in tyme to come in witness of the whilkis this presentis lettres we wrate with oure propre hand vnder the signet usit in selyng our oure lettres as now at Croidoune the last dai of November the yere of oure lorde j ͫ ͦ cccc ͦ. xij. ͦ.

Translation

James through the grace of God, King of Scots, to all that this letter hears or sees sends greeting. Know that we have granted, and by this present letter grant, a special confirmation in the fullest form to our trusty and well beloved kinsman Sir William Douglas of Drumlanrig of all the lands that he possesses and charters of which in the kingdom of Scotland, that is to say the lands of Drumlanrig, of Hawick, and of Selkirk, the which charters and possessions by this letter we confirm, and will further secure this our confirmation by formally, after the form of our chancellor and the procedure of his charters, having sealed with our great seal in time to come, in witness of which this present letter we write with our own hand under the signet used in sealing of our letter as now at Croydon, the last day of November, the year of our Lord, 1412.
